United Way of Cape May County - Live United (We donated this site and hosting to the United Way of Cape May County.)
W3C-valid PHP, XHTML, CSS & JavaScript (jQuery library) site using Wordpress content management with integrated Google Apps: calendar, email, etc. Designed to comply with United Way brand identity guidelines.
The United Way of Cape May County had a website. They also had a person to write press releases. What they didn't have was a consistent way to get those press releases on to the website.
The website was generously maintained by volunteers. But, as is often the case with volunteers, their time was limited. The website sometimes lagged behind information that was already in the newspapers and on local radio.
As a local chapter of the national United Way, UWCMC was also required to maintain certain guidelines when using United Way branding. The branding for the national United Way was going through a major overhaul...and they recommended that local United Ways follow suit.
Being a relatively small chapter of the United Way, UWCMC didn't have lots of money to invest on the kind of "content-managed" website that would best suit their needs.
So they contacted us.
What they got:
UWCMC got a content management system (CMS) for their website (WordPress) that their press release author can update as information is sent to traditional news sources.
The design featured the "LIVE UNITED" theme with logos and images that fall within guidelines for United Way branding. Future changes to update the United Way branding can be accomplished without losing or changing any of the content on the site.
There is also an events calendar integrated into the site, which can be easily updated via the Google Calendar application. And more email addresses were made available.
The United Way director met with us throughout the site design process to ensure they got a website they could manage with the features they wanted.
(And the project come in under budget...way under budget. It was donated to the United Way of Cape May County along with free hosting for a year.)
